Madeleine started sketching relatable art whilst studying Anthropology at Oxford University in 2014. She draws vulnerably about the heavy emotions women experience navigating daily life and dating in their 20s. Madeleine prides herself on feeling things deeply, and finding creativity in pain. She draws about what hurts in a raw and refreshing way, using humour as a tool to juxtapose the sometimes sad content. The childlike lightness and whimsical nature of her drawings offer escapism, they make you want to laugh, and they make you want to cry. Her documentation of common experiences is unique, her lack of shame and vulnerability is empowering. The stories that she writes to accompany her art are honest, raw and familiar. Through her illustrations and stories she explores the deepest parts of what it is to be human in the most relatable, unapologetic and humbling way.
